Dear RYC Alumni,

Hard to believe it’s been 15 years since the birth of this amazing organization, but it’s true! I have such wonderful memories, particularly of tours to the Pacific Rim Festival in Hawaii and New York City's performing tour (“We’re walkin’ here!), Oregon PICFESTs, Fort Worden, Spokane and Idaho Festivals, New Orleans, and especially Ireland in 2017. RYC typically blew the audiences away (right?!) and I was always so proud to show you off!

This 2021-21 season follows an all-online COVID season last year (bleah). Many of our members are brand new this year with little to no music training backgrounds, but our first live performance in December was very moving and satisfying and they keep getting better every week. It's very rewarding to see them re-emerging in a joyful setting! There is nothing like singing together, period.

Here’s an opportunity for YOU to sing with RYC again!

We have commissioned a song to commemorate the anniversary from our Washington state friend and composer, Reg Unterseher. We love it! He asked Jordan Chaney, a Tri-Cities poet, to write a new poem, ’this light’ for the lyrics. It is upbeat, uplifting and inspiring, and will be performed with piano and string quartet as the finale to our May 22, 2022 concert, ‘Where the Light Begins’ at New Hope Presbyterian Church, Kent, at 3pm—FREE to the public (with donations gratefully accepted, of course!)

At the very least, I hope you can join us in the audience for the performance, BUT, I also want to gauge interest in which of you would like to participate and to what extent.

Please take a few minutes to fill out this  Alumni Participation Survey, and forward this on to other RYC alumni, many of whom I’ve lost contact information.

I do so hope to hear from you/ see you/ sing with you again!

Warmly,

Leora Schwitters
